The secrets to a good scientific presentation are not particularly secret.
Enthusiasm, preparation and a pinch of confidence gets you a long way to giving a good presentation.
During my post-doc I have spent a lot of time developing a workshop for PhD and masters students in astrophysics to give good, clear, interesting and efficient presentations.
On this page I present to you a few youtube videos that are essential watching if you want to get started.
TED ( https://www.ted.com ) is an almost inexhaustible database of great videos, which I can not recommend enough.
If you want to know more please get in touch with me.

Telling a story:
A great way to get people interested and listening is too tell a good story. Im not saying all science presentations are a Lord of the Rings waiting to happen, but if we can take one step towards making our presentations a journey people care about this may get one more person listening to our presentation |

Statistics can be very boring....
Not according to Hans Rosling who gives an incredible talk on the statistics of global health. This is a must watch in to not only show, graphically, how beautiful statistics can be, but also how enthusiasm can really change the face of your presentation. |

The classic, death by powerpoint talk.
Very simple pointers how to improve you slides. We all know what we should and shouldn't do, however this really sets in concrete with some lovely social experiments that support his theories. |
